I was at this show and the previous night. I remember days where you would go with friends and argue about a night, whether it was great or good or not. And then you'd go to the next night and boom, and you'd say now this is what I mean. This was one of those nights for me. The LAPD were out in full force - really a pain. The Shrine was a huge psychedelic dream. The first set was played well. Boom for me hit at Sugaree; the whole place levitated and never came down. The whole second set was pretty much pedal to the metal - one of my first exposures to the Eyes that make me think of that Maxell tape ad with the guy's hair swept back by the music's force. Total amazement and shit-eating grins. I think they were facing a midnight curfew cause Sugar Mags was it no matter how much we screamed. When I met Latvala the following year and he made tapes for me, this was one of first I asked for.
